Wishpond, seeing her collapse in his peripheral vision, reached out just in time to buffer Featherfoot's fall. His heartbeat spiked in alarm and he darted his gaze like a grasshopper over her still body in search of arrows, but the realization that she had just passed out from overexertion came as quick and calming as a soft New Green rain. Sighing in relief, the harpist smiled down at his friend's unconscious face, glad that she hadn't hit her head. ~**You did well, my friend,**~ he sent warmly, picking some prickly leaves out of her red hair before standing up, cradling her in his arms. ~**I'll get you to safety.**~
Giving the now bound elf on the ground one last look, Wishpond crouched down and snagged his axe from him, judging its weight in his grip. It was a one-handed weapon, crafted of light metal, enough heft to deal a deadly blow but not too heavy for a musician's refined muscles to wield. Hooking its handle through his belt, he peered through the foliage, catching his opening to escape. Wishpond drew a deep breath to steel himself. Then, hoisting Featherfoot up high in his arms, he leaped out of the razorvine thicket, sprinting from shadow to shadow to keep them cloaked in shade as best he could on his way to the wolfbloods' tent.

At first, Rainblossom slowly backed away, but the three elves just kept closing in on her. She turned, trying to run towards... Just anywhere. She looked around frantically and in the end turned to where the tent with the wounded elves was. Perhaps some elves stayed had behind to protect the weak. yes, SilverEyes had gone there, right? She ran and ran, hearing the footsteps of her pursuers close behind her. A black streak passed Rainblossom. Shade carrying Eveninglight and Longsong. Rainblossom understood, they had no time to help her. ::Ironpaw! Where are you?::, she called out for her bond. She felt like she couldn't keep running much longer, yet the elves were still close behind her and didn't seem to give up. A snarl sounded behind her now and one pair of running elf-feet was replaced by running wolf-paws. ::Here::, Ironpaw, muzzle red with blood slowed down long enough for Rainblossom to heave herself on his back.

Longsong had answered Eveninglight's sending with a pulse of acknowledgement. He was dazed and only half-conscious, the pain his his throats and in his ribs burning bright as a flame. Still, he did his best to cling to Shade for dear life. He refused to become more of a burden to the tribe than he already was at the moment.
(OOC: Longsong follows Eveninglight to 'The Wounded Talk' thread)
Dawngazer gave a cry of pride and triumph as she spotted Eveningsky getting to the bag the cubs were held in. ~**We'll clear a path for you!**~ she lock-sent to Eveningsky, getting Bloodmane, One-Edge and Greyspear in on the sending. ~**Grab the bag and head for the tents where the wounded are resting!**~
Bloodmane and Greyspear set to work immediately, fighting with twice as much effort as moments before. If the cubs were free they could flee with the rest of their kin - they wouldn't have to maim and possibly kill fellow elves then!

One-Edge followed Bloodmane and Greyspear's example. Now that Longsong was out safe, away from the big fight, she could concentrate on helping Softpaws save her pups. ::Hang in there.:: she fed strength to her bond, and received that of the wolf's in return. The wolf was growing weary and in the reflection she could also identify the signs of her own weariness. Her left arm hung useless and slowed her down. But she pushed forward, with the help of her tribemates and bond, to secure the new life.
Eveningsky growled, facing her opponent, the cubs struggling their way out of the bad behind her. Her sisters and brother were giving their all to allow her the chance to take the cubs to safety. She could no longer hold off her blows. She could show no mercy to the opponent she was facing. Otherwise she would lose the chance. But this opponent wouldn't go down easily, even when Eveningsky would not hold back at all, except to make sure she didn't step on the cubs or stray from her position between them and the attacker.
Evening-Fall had managed to hit unconscious several of his tribemates and managed to use their own pieces of cloth to bind their feet or hands, or at times hand to a foot. He may not be a skillfull hunter, but he was swift on his feet and agile in his evasions. Unfortunately not all his first attempts made the opponent fall down to darkness, so he ended up causing bruises on his tribemates too. His sane tribemates were almost all out of harm's way. Some still remained to fend off the attackers, but only as a cover for others to find safety. And those were already out of eyesight. But the survivors seemed to still be at a predicament. The wolf cubs. ~**They need help.**~ Suddenly Morning-Glow's mind spoke to him and the elf in question dashed past him. ~**Shadowhide has the wolf cubs.**~ Evening-Fall explained, following Morning-Glow.
It has taken Morning-Glow a moment to make his way from where the tents of the survivors were. But he had cleared the path on his way. The unconscious elves on the ground were like foot prints left by him. It was easy for his mind to locate where Cloudbird was. But looking at the situation, he figured that they needed help to get all out, not just her. From a distance he had seen the survivors leash out, definitely by plan for some purpose. The wolf cubs. Morning-Glow wasn't as tall as Evening-Fall, but still taller than most of his tribemates. While hitting another tribemate into oblivion he surveyed the faces of the elves until he spotted Shadowhide. He was facing it off with one of the survivor females.
Eveningsky did her best. Her fight off with this highly talented fighter brought her bruises and scars. She could hear the whining of the cubs behind her. Something about the voices warned her that the cubs were finding their way out of the bag. It would be difficult to get the cubs to safety if they ran wild in the midst of the fight.
Morning-Glow saw the elfess to be underhanded. She needed help but no one had free hands to assist her. Everyone had their hands full with other CotO elves. ~**Fall, target Shadowhide. She needs help.**~
The appearance of Morning-Glow provided Evening-Fall with almost free hands. At his brother's orders and guided by the mental images, he spotted the elf in question. He readied the dagger he had disarmed from an early opponent. It would be a difficult throw. But he had more than a century of practice. Plus he was excellent with a box. At the right moment, he threw the dagger and it passed few shoulders before lodging in the arm of Shadowhide's armed left arm.
Eveningsky was surprised by the sudden dagger that hit her adversary, but she didn't waste any time. Although under some curse, the sudden dagger did daze Shadowhide. Eveningsky wounded the elf on the other arm, breaking his shields over his torso. Eveningsky followed on her movement and thrust her sword into the elf's heart. The feeling of killing a fellow elf made her sick, but she had no time for empathy. She let go of the hilt of her sword as it had lodged into the elf's ribcase. The elf fell down on his knees and Eveningsky dared to turn her back on him. She pushed the cub that had its nose poking out of the bag, back inside and picked up the bag with the cubs. ~**I have the cubs. Let's get away from here! Give us cover.**~ She urged her tribemates. She had no way of defending herself, without a sword and a bag of struggling wolf pups in her hands.

The moment Greyspear head Eveningsky's sending he shared a sending of his own: **Fall back! Fall back! To the wounded's tent, we need to flee this place!** Silvereyes' sending had reached him too. Reaching out with his mind to all he thought of as 'tribemates' he sent: ~**Flee toward the Holt! Back to the forest, for now. Run now! We'll keep in contact by sending until our eyes can meet and hands can touch.**~ He wasn't about to lose track of anyone again. The cubs most of all. None of them could be lost in this fray. Dawngazer and Bloodmane disengaged from their opponents and did their best to follow Greyspear, Eveningsky and the others out of the fight. Firecry entered the fight running, doing his best to get Rainblossom out of harm's way. He kept a lock-sending with his lovemate as he fought, terrified to lose her in the mess of weapons and bodies. OOC: Wrapping this up and about to do a time-jump to the " Fleeing" thread Post your elf there when you feel they're done here!

Cloudbird whirled, fighting still. One moment she watched as her sister managed to make a break for freedom and safety. Carefully, she swung herself up on Rockclimber, poised to run. Then she saw Morning-Glow, and she slowed. ~**Ride with me, we don't have much time.**~

One-Edge was going to dash after her tribemates when Softpaws' mind touched her, weak. "Softpaws!" The elfess cried a she sought for the she-wolf. Not far away, but also in fight with maddened CotO elves. Or rather, being beaten by them. One-Edge fought her way to Softpaws, the fear for her bond making her forget the pain of her dislocated shoulder.
Cloudbird's offer surprised Morning-Glow. *Ride on a wolf?* Although the thought was absurd, he remembered the moment from before, when they had asked him to trust them, and their bond with the wolves. He had then decided to take a leap of faith. And was going to do the same here, to secure their safe departure, but then he heard One-Edge's cry. The elfess needed help, and the wolf she approached in haste probably even more so. He turned to meet Cloudbird's eyes. ~**We will follow.**~ He promised her before leaping after One-Edge to help her and the wolf. He shared the situation and his plan in few images and shared thoughts to Evening-Fall, who joined in after him.
Cloudshadow did all she could to follow Firecry in her confused state. The situation was... there were no words. Her own brothers and sisters were damaging those they all loved. What was going on? Why? Cloudshadow dodged and avaded as much as she could. She had no wish to raise her arms. ~**Firecry**~ Her call contained the desperation that she felt in the situation.

(ooc: Rainblossom is leaving the fighting and has started in the direction of the tent of the wounded. can she see Firecry?)
Tracker and Wasp had been fighting side by side. After the elder elf's remarks, Wasp had been trying to render their Clan-mates unconscious, rather than kill them, while Tracker bound them so they could no longer threaten others, bandaging them as good as he was able to if they were wounded. He looked about. One of the wolf-blooded elves had the bag with the cubs now. Good, the cubs would soon be safe. But they had to help the elfess, she had no means to protect herself. **Go!**, he urged Eveningsky, rushing towards her and motioning Wasp to follow him, **We'll have your back** Behind him, Tracker heard Wasp's annoyed grunt. **We will help her**, he ordered, pulling rank. he trusted on Wasp's sense of honour to follow his orders.

(OOC: Firecry is within Rainblossom's line of sight, yes)
IC: **This is your First Chief speaking, hear me!** Palepelt sending was an open one, touching all minds within the camp's boatders, but she was clearly addressing only her fellow Children of the Oaks.
**Our tribemates are sick, terribly sick through the High One's magic.** Her grief, rage and fear were palpable behind her words. **Many of us have been forced to do the unthinkable today - fight and even kill our own kin! To stop this bloodshed I order you all to flee this place, to the safery of hje Oaks. I and a few of our warriors will remain here, to tend to the sick once they gain there senses back.**
The pause in her sending held a lot of meaning, telegraphing that there were more orders to come; unpleasant ones. **The wolf-bloods are the root of our tribemates' sickness,** Palepelt sent, with much conviction. **I know this is a great burden I am looking to give to you, but I must ask that volunteers - and only volunteers - acompany the wolf-bloods from this place. I need you to keep them away from lands were we wander, to make sure none of our sick lay eyes upon them and force them to become violent and unreasonable again.**
Her words held grief and finality. **I will find you and bring you back to us, this I swear to you. Know that you will be making a great sacrifice to protect our children and their children. Songs will be sung about you for uncountable years to come.**
Palepelt's next sending was stony and full of forced calm. **Any volunteer, reply to me in lock-sending so I know of your sacrifice. All others, run towards the Oaks!**
Firecry, having heard Palepelt's sending like all others present, doubled his efforts to reach his sister. **Rainblossom! Rainblossom, we must flee this place! Come with me and Cloudshadow, to the other wolfriders!** ~**You are coming with us, aren't you love?**~ he then lock-sent to Cloudshadow, echoing the desperation in her earlier lock-sending. ~**Please say you are!**~

"There! It's Firecry!", Rainblossom cried. "Come on, Ironpaw!" **My eyes see with joy..**, she sent, happy to see a friendly face between all the chaos and the horror, **We're coming, brother!**
Fighting to keep Eveningsky and the cubs safe, Tracker fumbled trying to keep a branch-mate at bay, distracted by Palepelt's sending. "We should volunteer", Wasp said, with a grim face, golden eyes blazing. "Keep them away from our lands and end this madness." **I volunteer, my chief!**, she sent to Palepelt, not waiting for Tracker's reply. **I will go too**, Tracker added, **To end the bloodshed** He didn't want to chase the wolfblooded elves away, but it seemed for the best, for both tribes.

OOC: Somehow it would seem natural that at least some of the survivors would react to One-Edge's situation so I haven't posted anything new yet. If no one have has anything to say I can just go ahead and play out E-F and M-G helping O-E and Softpaws out of the fight.

Cloudbird set her mouth in determination, pausing briefly to be sure Eveningsky was free, then plunged back into the fray. Rockclimber snarled and whirled, helping his friend fight their way to her Recognized. Fury flashed on elf and wolf face alike. ~**I'm not leaving you, or One-Edge and Softpaws. We get out together.**~
With a shriek of rage, the slender elfess launched herself from the back of her wolf, using her weight to knock down an elf. She came up whirling and fighting, struggling to protect One-Edge and to get to Softpaws. Her vision swam momentarily and she realized she was losing too much blood. Taking a deep breath she fought against the lightheadedness and continued on.

Seeing that One-Edge was in trouble, Dawngazer doubled back with a quick sending of **Go on, protect the others!** to Bloodmane. Stronglegs was wounded too, though not badly, but she refraind from riding him. They'd run side-by-side into this. **Keep fighting!**
Stronglegs was more than ready to fight. Though the enemy smelled of elf they weren't acting like elves - he was more than ready to attack and maim, even if killing would take too much time. He needed to get to his mate, his wounded mate, and thus he focused more on knocking his attackers over and out of the way. Flight had been ordered, flight to save their cubs. He knew, vaguely in a wolf-ish way, that the elves would help with the cubs. Pack would help. Finding his way to Softpaws' side Stronglegs whirled around and bellowed at their attackers, standing guards over her, waiting for the elves to approach.
Greyspear was already out of the fight, his mind consumed by thoughts of his two cubs - grown cubs yes, but still his cubs and they were in danger. The loss of his lifemate still haunted him, fueling his fear for Silvereyes and Treebreeze - and his brother Haze as well. High Ones, please let my family live!
Dawngazer did her best to follow Cloudbird into the fray she herself just had gotten out of. Before long she'd made it to alongside Cloudbird, nearing One-Edge and, in turn, Softpaws. ~**Any bad wounds?**~ she lock-sent to Cloudbird and One-Edge.

Cloudbird ground her teeth together, keeping eyes on her target. ~**I'm losing blood, fast, but we have to get them out of here. I don't know how bad off she is.**~ Her mind-voice betrayed the sudden onslaught of drowsiness and she wobbled, catching herself on her bond. She hissed in pain, finally acknowledging the pain her side as she struggled to breathe.
