Cloudbird frowned, but settled into a fighting stance, watching carefully every shift of the younger elf's feet and weight. ~**So be it, child.**~ Her mind-send held nothing but sadness. One last time, before sinking herself fully into the wolf's urge within her, she reached out for her sister with her mind, loving and sure.
Featherfoot shrunk back from Dawngazer's fury, eyes sad and confused. "I did not mean to insult you. I simply meant -" Her eyes went wide, frozen in place as the young woman lunged for Morning-Glow.
Cloudbird, by this point, had completely blocked out the world, except for herself, Claw, and the ring. The wolf song beat in her ears as she moved, suddenly darting forward and breaking their circling, low to the ground, knife flashing in her hand.

Eveningsky accepted her sisters thoughts and held them dear, keeping her mind as much as one with her as possible. She would be right there for anything needed. Dawngazer's leap startled Morning-Glow but his senses and reflexes, honed for two centuries, always in the first line of fight, didn't fail him. He took a step back to the side, moving along the movement of Dawngazer. His arms sliding against her right one, bringing him behind her, diagonally, in one smooth movement. He had a conscious eye on Branchwalker, not wanting to end up entirely between the two, in case the elf decided to launch too. He was in stance, legs in steady position, knees slightly bent, ready for action. His arms were up on his shoulder level, but his hands were open, showing he had no intention of fighting. He made no attempt to reach out for the knives sheathed on the side of his calves. "I didn't want to insult." OOC: I imagine it's not too narsisstic to say he has the upper hand over Dawngazer 1800 years more experience

When Dawngazer turned on Featherfoot, Wishpond put his arm protectively in front of her, his body angled slightly toward the tanner. He had no wish for a confrontation with the livid Wolfrider, but he couldn't allow harm to come to his sweet friend, either. His mouth fell slightly open when the fiery young elfess attacked Morning-Glow, though - he barely had the time to gasp in shock before the two clashed. Wishpond stared helplessly at the scene for a moment, alarm washing the color from his cheeks. How had these days of celebration and merriment turned into something so raw and ugly? He shook his head imperceptibly, his eyes wide and frightened. It was like the entire world had gone mad! He wasn't built for this kind of aggression!
Shrinking back, the harpist's hand found Featherfoot's, the shiver of trepidation running through him palpable in his touch.

Branchwalker stood frozen. The sight of Dawngazer acting so rash - she'd never been a quiet, demure elf, but this was not like her - had him unsure of how to react. He was no fighter and this Morning-Glow looked skilled beyond maybe even Greyspear and Cloudbird... Dawngazer gave a low laugh at Morning-Glow's words. She turned around and gave him a sneer, then turned to look at Featherfoot out of the corner of her eye, with the same expression. "You didn't mean to insult?! Why, then it of course is fine that you're sending our cubs to risk death from exposure! Silly, wolf-blooded me, not getting that." Locking eyes with Morning-Glow in an instinctive challenge she forced herself to remain still. She felt like she was on fire. The sensation had been niggling at the back of her mind since the confrontation had begun...or had it? Something was wrong, but she couldn't make out what. She was angry, oh so angry, but the anger wasn't completely hers. As if pulled by an underwater current, Dawngazer's eyes were drawn to a familiar shape approaching at full speed from the direction of the storage tent where they'd left Softpaws. "Oh n-!" Stronglegs' rumbling growl was the only warning before he tackled Morning-Glow. With a running start, the wolf was a force to be reckoned with. Branchwalker gave a yelp as Dawngazer's bond came to her rescue. He could smell blood already, before Stronglegs touched Morning-Glow; Stronglegs' blood, Softpaws' blood, other blood. Acting on instinct, Branchwalker grabbed Featherfoot and tried to pull her back, to prevent any injuries he could. (( OOC: It's definitely not weird that Morning-Glow has the upper hand right now, so I'll just have to wolf-cheat to get the effect we want ))

OOC: Morning-Glow didn't have any grip on Dawngazer, but it won't really make a difference, I guess. Unfortunately M-G won't be able to keep knives sheathed against a wolf.
Just wanted to drop that note so you may edit your post if you feel it's necessary. Will reply later in game.

And using knives against Strongles is fine, he has his fangs after all

Featherfoot let out a small cry of fear, hand tightening in Wishpond's, pulling him closer to her and Branchwalker. She watched the wolf, fear and confusion evident on her face as a weak shimmer appeared in the air between the three of them and the angry canine.
Cloudbird stumbled, tucking and rolling as confusion and fury hit her mind. She shook her head, blinking up at Claw. She reached out with her mind, suddenly aware that the feeling came from Rockclimber. She gritted her teeth, sending to her sister. ~**Sky, the wolves! Something's made them angry - High Ones, so angry.**~ She felt the beast inside her roil with tension and she sprung again, a small blur of force that hit Claw square in the knees.

Morning-Glow was taken by a surprise by the wolf, but his instincts worked as they should. The wolf hit him head on, making the two fall on the ground, the wolf on top. But in that movement Morning-Glow's left hand grasped the hilt of his dagger and pulled it out. The wolf couldn't get a it's teeth on the elf but it's claws did meet the unarmed arm during the fall. Immediately in ground Morning-Glow swung his dagger at the face of the wolf. It didn't do the deed, but provided Morning-Glow the chance to roll out from under the wolf and get in position, in a low crouch. This time both hands armed with a dagger. his eyes flared in the rush of adrenaline as he faced the wolf. The fact that this wolf was something of a friend to one of these strangers wasn't on the top of his mind.
The sudden rush of Stronglegs broke Eveningsky's concentration on the chief fight. It was only then that she saw furiated Dawngazer, Branchwalker pushing some CotO elves back and another CotO elf facing a bloody wolf. The image of the situation slipped through her mind link to Cloudbird as well. At the same time she received the sending from Cloudbird. Something was terribly wrong with the wolves. ~**What is going on?**~ She locksent to all her tribemates, trying to make sense of everything now happening outside of the chief fight.

Silvereyes saw the madness outside. It and the send that stung her mind. She did not reply to anyone. She looked away in fatigue, heart pounding and fear and shock in her eyes, mind and on her face. She sat down on the ground trying to regain her self awareness and managed some how to chock down her rage. As she looked to her brother she turned away before he could see her. She shakily stood to her feet. She looked about the tent of wounded and mending from her tribe. It was good most were able to move and her heart settled. However, the moment she set her silver shimmering eyes on her Uncle.
All this time and how had he slipped her tired mind? she turned pale. Her guilt creating a strength to do the little she was able to do. She moved an empty cot next to her Uncle and returned to her brother. "Forget what is going on outside. we should go look after our Uncle. He looks like he is thirsty and could use some company. I already moved a cot beside him so you can rest too." She shared with Treebreeze.
After handing a drinking skin to her brother she sat on the ground waking her Uncle to give him some water. He looked thin and she tried to stay positive, though it was not very easy at the moment, a fight and wolf blood spilled and all she is capable of is look after her family. It's all her elf blood will allow as her Wolf blood boils under her skin. She wants cruel things to happen to the Trolls that hurt her family and love mate and this Holt that tends to drive them out again.
Silvereyes has chosen for the sake of her family and tribe that she must feed her inner good wolf and let the bad wolf in her only get scraps and the left overs. "Here, we came to look after you. Please drink kind Uncle?" She requested as she held the mouth of the water skin up to her uncle's lips, but not up in his face just in case he would be well enough to take the skin and drink on his own.

Haze accepted the water from Silvereyes with some effort. "Thank you, niece. What is happening?"
Outside Branchwalker stood with his mouth wide open, horror shaking him to the core. What was wrong with Stronglegs? What was happening with the wolves?
Dawngazer grabbed the scruff of Stronglegs' neck and pulled, just keeping him from lunging at Morning-Glow. ~**Something is very, very wrong with the wolves!**~ she lock-sent to her tribe mates through the haze of rage Stronglegs was feeding her. ~**We need to see to our bonds! Someone help me with Stronglegs!**~ She was barely holding onto him as it was and he was snapping at the air, as if wishing to bite Morning-Glow to pieces.
Bloodmane felt a tug at something at the back of her mind. It felt almost... No, impossible! She hadn't bonded with any wolf, she was sure of it! Was the rage of the wolves so strong? ~**I'm going after Longsong and One-Edge.**~ she lock-sent to her tribe mates before taking off.
Claw had her dagger in hand still, but eyed Stronglegs with wide eyes, ignoring Cloudbird. "Can't you control your beasts, wolf-bloods?!" she yelled, just before Cloudbird brought her down. She hit the dirt face first, the falling sending a shock of pain up through her jaw and into her head and neck.

Dagger still in hand, fighting the urge to flip Claw over and rip her disrespectful throat out - ::Rockclimber, it is a challenge, let me be!:: - she deliberately and carefully scored the back of the impetuous elf's leg with the sharp tip, drawing blood. Then she stood up, wiping it off and sheathing it. One hand was held out to her wolf, relying on his normally gentle nature and their old friendship to keep him in check. She offered the other hand to Claw. **To first blood, was it not?**

Claw cursed as Cloudbird cut her leg. Turning to glare over her shoulder at Cloudbird, she spat on the ground. "Having your wolves come in as a distraction. Should have known you beast-bloods would cheat." Despite the clear rage in her eyes, a smirk worked its way onto her lips. "At least I brought them enough time. The High One will surely reward me none the less." She moved to get to her feet, gritting her teeth against the sting in her injured leg. She very deliberately didn't take Cloudbird's offered hand of help.
::Stronglegs, back off!:: Dawngazer sent to her bond, too busy just barely holding onto him - preventing him from attacking Morning-Glow again - to listen to what was going on around her. ~**Still need help here! I can't hold him much longer!**~
Greyspear, on the other hand, had listened intently to what Claw had said and his heart was now climbing into his throat. The High One? A reward from The High Ones wasn't unusual to be heard spoken of as another expression of hope for future luck, but just one? That sounded wrong... ~**Do as Dawngazer said!**~ He hurried to lock-send to all his tribe mates. ~**Stronglegs is covered in blood, something must have happened with Softpaws and the cubs! Take your bonds, hurry to their aid!**~ Then he lock-sent only to Cloudbird: ~**Stay and guard that snake in the grass you've been fighting, and help Dawngazer with Stronglegs. I fear we can't leave our wounded unguarded here, no matter what is happening with the wolf cubs.**~
Branchwalker was too stunned by the display of Featherfoot's magic to hear what was being said around him. Even the wolves irratical behavior became a second thought to the shimmer in front of him. "Is that you, doing that?" he had to ask.
Haze heard the sendings from outside, and heard the growls from the wolf pack that were getting louder and louder. Eyes wide, he turned to look at Silvereyes. "You must do what your father says, child," he said to her. "You and your brother go aid the wolf pack, follow them to whatever danger there is and be prepared to fight. I will stay here and do my best to defened the other wounded. I'm just tired and thirsty, not hurt. I'll be fine here."
