Branchwalker's words were not a surprise, but Branchwalker had come from behind Evening-Fall, which Evening-Fall had not expected. After all, he had addressed the elves creating a circle of furs and waited to see if he could be of any help. The shorter elf was tearing, speaking the words that certainly most of the survivors had on their mind. Maybe none of the Children should've joined them. How could these elves find any rest being surrounded elves they could not trust. Why had they joined? Their new First Chief had asked his tribemates to "escort" the wolf-bloods away. But there were those of them that did not do it for such a reason. Hale did it out of the goodness of her heart. His own brother followed the call of Recognition. And him, why had Evening-Fall fled with them? Evening-Fall found that he could not directly answer Branchwalker. He lifted his hands in defeat and let out a puff of air. "It is as you say. There is no reason for you to trust us." Spoken words felt so empty, so useless. ~**Each of us has our own reason for coming. I hardly know my own.**~ A strained smile appeared on his face. Not a strained one for forcing a smile, but due to the serious topic at hand. Here he had ran for his life, from his home, from his tribe. And he did not know why. There was a certain tint of amusement in that ignorance. ~**There are us that sincerely wish to give you a hand. We can only hope you can see past the words of some and hear our own.**~ He did not wish to become the word of the Children present, choosing to keep his words between him and Branchwalker.

Cloudshadow was breathing heavily. She leaned over, resting her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. The escape had been exhausting. Firecry's voice penetrated her sound of her heart beating in her ears. She lifted her eyes and saw her lovemate right there, in front of her. The elfess clasped Firecry's shoulder with one hand, probably a little too hard due to her own desire for support to stay up. ~**I'm right here. If I could just catch my breath...**~ Her throat was hoarse. She could not trust for any spoken words to carry out. **Some water, please.** She had not managed to take any with her in all the chaos that had ensued back at New Turn Feast.

Cloudbird's painful sendings worried Eveningsky. Her own pain doubtfully escaped her short sending. ~**Stay strong Cloudbird.**~ At the moment Eveningsky was unable to go to her sister. She had to rely to supporting her sister via their mind connection. Yet her own pain would certainly add to that of Cloudbird's. The elfess chose to keep their minds connected fleetingly, not entirely disappearing but hopefully keeping her own pain from mixing with Cloudbird's. ~**Is Sunsleaf there with you?**~ If Eveningsky knew her sister got help, she'd rest more easily. Her eyes were shut close against the pain from her own injuries. The adrenaline from the fight and escape started to disappear, leaving her more aware of the pain. But there was another kind of pain behind her eyes too. She damned her weakness. **The pups? Are the pups safe?** She sent out, to anyone. The guard had not had the strength to keep protecting the pups and now she couldn't even remember who she had handed them over to.

It had concerned Morning-Glow that the healer had been silent to the calls of Cloudbird and Branchwalker. Yet the pull of the Recognition was again building up. And then she said it again, his soulname. Not the first time, yet feeling as such. Her mind voice pleading to him. But it was the feeling behind the words that worried him. He hadn’t been sure earlier but he definitely now sensed her fear. But he could not tell what the maiden feared. Did she fear for her life? Did she fear for her tribe’s safety with the Children around? Morning-Glow ensured that his uncertainty did not escape from his mind to hers. Earlier, hearing her, seeing her in such state had let his hesitation flee his mind. The rekindled pull of the Recognition had disrupted his own control over his mind. Cloudbird needed strength, not confusion or hesitation. Morning-Glow shaped the open part of his mind into the shape of a rock, that of strong footing and unbreakable. Not against Cloudbird’s mind, but as a foothold for Cloudbird to hold on.
Morning-Glow thought of helping Cloudbird lie down but he didn’t know if that was the right move to make. He took a look around, wondering whether the healer had heard the pleads. His eyes caught the familiar figure moving their way. ~**The healer is on her way.**~ He let her know . He would wait until the healer told them what to do. But Morning-Glow still hesitated to physically touch the elfess, although he made sure not to reveal it to Cloudbird. For one, the wolf was uncomfortably close to him. He could not shake the sense of predator he got from the wolf. These wolves had minds of their own. Their elf friends didn’t have full control over them. Cloudbird assured him the wolf wouldn’t bite but he could not find it in himself to trust the wolf on that. The wolf was licking her face. He would not get between that. Then there was the obvious part of her being injured, and touching her causing her pain. But he could not ignore her plead. He cautiously sat down next to the maiden. He didn’t desire to make any sudden movement, least the wolf reacted. He also made sure not to look at the wolf. He didn’t want to repeat the earlier “mistake” he did but he didn’t either want to betray to Cloudbird his caution over the wolf. He would rather focus on supporting her through their connected minds, providing her something sturdy to rely on. As he positioned himself on the ground next to her, his knee ever so slightly touched her leg, as if a fleeting thought, an unconscious act. Which it was for most part. Morning-Glow had not knowingly sought for it, but the Recognition made him sensitive even to the smallest accidental touch. The throbbing of her soulname was empowered by the physical touch.

Branchwalker honestly didn't know how to react to Evening-Fall's lock-sending. He hadn't been prepared for such openness. Taken aback he paused and glance around the camp, trying to find away forward in their conversation, anything to secure his footing. And he soon found it. ~**Can you answer why she is here?**~ he lock-sent to Evening-Fall, sending a worried look in wasp's direction. He had heard more than one harsh word from her and of all the Children who had accompanied them she was the most openly hostile. Branchwalker didn't bother to try and hide his fear of her, sharing it openly with Evening-Fall. Dawngazer had shared with him that Wasp had attacked her own with seemingly no hesitation when the strange business back at the Children of the Oaks' camp began. Would she hesitate in slitting their throats as they slept?

Longsong hesitated in touching One-Edge . Though their lifemating had lasted over a moon's circle now he still felt awkward around her at times, especially times like this. It reminded him how things had been before - when their Recognition had seemed an impossible match, their child the only happy result from it. The memory of Sweetbreeze made him flinch. He forced himself to focus on the Now, touching One-Edge's shoulder gently. ~**I'll find Softpaws for you, and some water. Can you stand? I'll help you to the furs. You need rest...Lam.**~ He hesitated in using her soul name, despite it being far from the first time he had done so. For a brief moment he wondered if things would always be so between the two of them. That thought was quickly pushed aside as the challenge of keeping himself on his feet presented itself - while uninjured the long flight had taken a chunk out of his stamina as well.

Hearing Eveningsky's sending about the wolf cubs, Greyspear answered with: **They are here, in the circle of furs. Can someone help Softpaws get over here to take care of them?** He himself was too old and tired, he had to admit. Being the last one to have carried the cubs his bones ached worse than usual and he wished to keep and eye on what Branchwalker's confrontation with the one called Evening-Fall would lead to. At the moment the two were just staring at each other, as if deep in lock-sending. The wolf pups were restless and clearly hungry, but still too small to move much on their own. They kept whimpering, seeking the warmth and milk of their mother Softpaws, but finding only the warmth of elfin bodies. Three of the four cubs had nuzzled up to the sleeping Eclipse, who frowned in his sleep but didn't wake. The fourth had cuddled up to Childwolf, who was busy glaring at wasp. "What was that about 'not sharing with beastbloods'?" he growled at her, baring his the very fang-like teeth his strong wolf-blood had gifted him. Bloodmane, Haze and Treebreeze all snapped to attention at Childwolf's words. None of them reprimanded him for spoiling for a fight, but all looked ready to dive in, should it be necessary. A bit aways from this, Firecry hurried to support Cloudshadow as she reached for him. ~**I will find you water, love. Let's get you over to these furs. Are you...are you hurt?**~ Blinking to clear his vision he readied to help Cloudshadow walk towards the circle of furs that had been arranged. ~**It looks like the ones called Haze and Treebreeze have some food they are gathering from different packs. Are you hungry as well?**~ He was, his belly reminded him. Too tired to speak he continued to send, this time reaching out for Rainblossom. **Sister? Where are you?**

Matching Childwolf's glare with the same intensity, Wasp answered. "Why would I like to share water of food or anything with filthy beings like you and yours?" She did not flinch seeing his fangs, as he growled at her. It only made her more sure of her opinion of these beastbloods. They were no better than the animals they rode. "I do not share with animals. I hunt and eat animals. That's what they're for."

Hale looked at Wasp in shock. "Why do you say something such mean things, Wasp?", she asked, "They are the same as us, just the same. How can you hate other elves so much?" Tears were welling up in her eyes. So much horrible things had happened today. She had seen such horror as she had never seen before. Elves should not fight elves.

Cloudshadow was grateful for the physical support Firecry could provide her. She was still dry and short of breath and would have preferred to stay in place. But for the sake of food and water, she would push forward. ~**I'm not hurt. Merely exhausted from the run. You're not hurt, I hope?**~ They had managed to keep sufficient distance from the other attacking elves. Yet it was possible one of them got Firecry in the middle of the chaos. ~**Yes, I'm hungry too. Lead the way.**~

It saddened Evening-Fall to receive the feelings of fear that Branchwalker felt towards Wasp. Before he had time to reply Childwolf tagged on Wasp's earlier comment and in the blink of an eye the situation turned south. In his mind he cursed Wasp's short temper. The survivors had all the reason to be vary of him and his tribemates. Sparking discord was the last thing they needed. Tracker had also left, the one elf that may have the strongest influence on Wasp, as the second-in-command of Wasp's Branch. ~**I wish I knew.**~ He sent to Branchwalker just as he moved. He touched Hale's arm in passing, hoping to signal for the elfess to back down. He placed himself between Wasp and the circle of furs, partially between Childwolf and Wasp. "Wasp. This is a place for the wounded and young. If you want to talk, we can go over there--" Evening-Fall pointed away from the clearing the elves had gathered at. Not into the woods, but to the edge of the space. "-- If you wish to remain at this spot, behave." He spoke in a stern voice. It was likely that Wasp didn't have any particular respect for Evening-Fall except for seniority in age and experience. Morning-Glow would likely have more influence, as an expert hunter and fighter, what Wasp likely wished to become. But Evening-Fall hoped that it would not be necessary to call for his brother. Evening-Fall didn't wish to tell Wasp not to hate the wolf-blooded elves. The elfess had the right to feel that way, even if Evening-Fall didn't share that view. Suddenly, a thought entered Evening-Fall's head and he clapped his hands together once as his expression changed. It was like all that seriousness just flew away. "Better yet! Let's take some water and food to Featherfoot and Wishpond. Featherfoot lost consciousness before. I'm sure she could use some nourishment."

Hearing her soulname from Longsong was comforting to the spent elfess. One-Edge took shallow but ragged breaths. ~**I can't.**~ Her body hurt over. The leg that had started to mend was sprinkled with pain. The wound on her side was closed but burnt. Her left arm wouldn't move. She could not even lift her head, much less stand. In any other situation she might have felt embarrassed to admit that she can't stand up but at this moment she was too exhausted, over-whelmed with everything, to care. Greyspear's sending about the pups relaxed her, but Greyspear's request for Softpaws panicked her. She tried to stand up, but the smallest movement of lifting her head sent waves of pain along her figure. Curses escaped her lips as she shut her eyes in anger. ~**Softpaws! You have to find her, Adem!**~ She urged to Longsong.

Eveningsky was relieved to know that the pups were safe. Although the pain was strong, it was easier to bear knowing the pups were okay. She took deep breaths, concentrating on gaining her breath, some of her strength. She kept her mind connected to her sister. It worried her that she had not heard back from Cloudbird yet. ~**Cloudbird, is Sunsleaf there with you?**~ She asked in mind-voice again.

Wasp raised an eyebrow. Why would Evening-Fall even try to talk to her? Like she would listen to him? She had some respect for his brother, but him? No. But she blinked as Evening-Fall suggested to go and bring food to Featherfood and Wishpond. The mere mentioning of his name made her heart skip a beat, but her expression remained the same. Wasp shrugged. "Why not", she said, standing up, "Better than to hang around here". She looked at the elves surrounding her with disdain.

Evening-Fall's touch made Hale relax. She was sure he would be able to help, perhaps even make Wasp see how wrong she was to think so bad about these poor elves.
