Wasp spun around. "Why not?", she spat at Morning-Glow. "Why shouldn't I teach this she-wolf a lesson? She should know where she and her kin belong." She shot Silvereyes a ragefilled glance. "Beastbloods! Yes, leave you coward!" She shouted as Silvereyes retreated.
Eveninglight looked up at Silvereyes in relief. She hadn't found the bag yet and opened her mouth to tell her friend just that, when... "Here, I think this is his bag!" Hastily Eveninglight tugged the bag out from under some sleepingfurs and rummaged inside. "This must be it", she said, showing the crystal item to Silvereyes. "Let's hurry back!"

Claw laughed at Cloudbird's words, but all mockery had left her voice. It sounded like Claw thought they were good friends sharing a joke. "But your ancestors have already cursed your young! They've cursed all of you, though you might not know it. The High One is only setting right horrors that never should have been. And I am helping." Her drunken grin remained fixed on her face as she spoke, her gaze growing more and more distant.
Branchwalker's gaze swung from Claw, to Wasp, to Cloudbird and Morning-Glow. "You're mad," Branchwalker said to Wasp just before Silvereyes pulled him into the tent. "You're mad as a foam-sick badger." His words were soft and his eyes filled with fear, as if this realization just had hit him. In the tent he did his best to search, but the pure terror the knowledge of Claw and Wasp's madness brought forth in him made his gaze unfocused and his hands unsteady. Tears nearly sprung to his eyes when Eveninglight pulled the crystal out of one of the bags. "Yes! Yes that's it! Hurry back to the others on Shade, Silvereyes and I will follow."
OOC: Remember that none of the survivors know that animal-blooded elves are mortal. Children of the Oaks elves do know that however, so this is open to conflict!
Also, Fefe, what did Silvereyes mean with the statement about her people not drawing other elves' blood? The Tall Tree Holt had challenges between chiefs that could get quiet bloody and even be fatal. Or was she talking about the fact that the Tall Tree durvivors never would attack an elf outside a challenge or leave cubs at risk?

OOC: I believe some other CotO elf already said about the mortality to some survivors. I believe there are few that know, and might have told to others. I just can't remember the elves involved earlier.

Morning-Glow could see in Wasp's eyes that there would be no making sense to her. For Wasp, her beliefs were correct. Morning-Glow could understand her, but didn't entirely agree. He chose to remain silent and let the young one vent her anger. Rather in words to him than the alternative. And then there was Claw again. Although Morning-Glow didn't know why Claw assumed that these other elves weren't aware of their mortality. Additionally, why did it really matter? Even if he and his tribemates were immortal, they tended to die young due to huntings-gone-wrong. For all he knew, these animal-blooded elves outlived them. Again, he chose to not verbalize his thoughts. Claw sought to aggravate Cloudbird and he didn't want to by any accident assist in that, by poor choice of words. OOC: I wasn't aware that M-G and Cloudbird were close to each other. I guess Wasp was closer to Cloudbird than I thought, as M-G went to Wasp

As soon as Branchwalker confirmed that this was indeed the item they had been looking for, Eveninglight darted out of the tent. Shade started running as soon as he saw her, Eveninglight jumped on the big wolf mid-run. ::Run like the wind, wolf-friend!::, she sent, hoping they would be back in time.
"Mad am I?", Wasp scoffed at Branchwalker's words, her discussion with Morning-Glow forgotten for a moment. She set foot in Branchwalker's direction, a grin appearing on her face as she played with a throwing dagger. Wasp halted when he too went inside the tent. She could wait untill they came out again, perhaps. Another part of her wanted to go in the direction Claw had pointed her.
"Just look at that she-wolf", Wasp said when Eveninglight ran past her towards her wolf a few moments later, anger flaring up again. She was annoyed by Morning-Glow's lack of response. How could he act like it didn't much at all? "She knows they're not welcome, yet she goes about like she owns this place. But you, Morning-Glow, don't seem to care about that at all!" She turned around, deciding to head after Eveninglight. She realy did want to know what was going on now, what Claw had been talking about. And yes, she wanted to fight Morning-Glow or anyone of te wolf-bloods, but her skills were no match for his many moons of experience. Even she knew when not to pick a fight. Sometimes. "Go cuddle them", Wasp said over her shoulder, "Or even better, go away with those High Ones forsaken fleabags. Our tribe doesn't need the likes of you, that are not loyal to our blood."

OOC: Edited Branchwalker's post. Will have to go back and double-check what the Children of the Oaks have said and to who before I post again.

They would not draw blood outside of a challenge or on innocent cubs or pick a fight with the wounded.

Silvereyes, hanging back in the shadows of the tent walls peered out the tent seeing the scene as Eveninglight mounted her Bond and headed off. Silvereyes looked at Branchwlaker. ~**Stay close and let's watch out for each other. That one is a wasp with it's wings all wet. It makes noise but can't do much least you get too close.**~ Silvereyes turned her head back to Wasp and those around near her outside the tent.
Moving her bow across her back by putting her head and shoulder thew the bow and string, Silvereyes took out her daggers, one in each hand. If she had too, she would protect herself and Branchwalker even if it meant she had to roughly swallow the very words she had just told Wasp before she entered the tent. Silvereyes sheathed her blades as she exited, her hands still on the handles. she was walking normal and forcing her nerves to be calm as she started away from the tent keeping mind of Branchwalker and the others about that she could see. ~**I pray Shade and Eveninglight make it to the others in time.**~ She lock sent to Branchwalker.

OOC: Okay, I've read through all the past archived rpgs with the Children of the Oaks, as well as this thread. Members of the Children of the Oaks have mentioned mortality to the survivors (Wishpond, Featherfoot and Morning-Glow have talked about it) - it's just that none of the survivors have understood what they're talking about XD Last it was mentioned, Dawngazer answered "Mortality? What, do you think we look sick?" and then all the fighting began. In short, none of the survivors seem to have grasped that they're mortal, at least not yet.
Thanks for clarification, Fefe!
IC: Branchwalker followed Silvereyes out of the tent, his eyes on Wasp and Claw as soon as the two were in sight. From what he'd caught of the quarrle between Wasp and Morning-Glow, Morning-Glow seemed to be on their side... for the moment. ~**I too wish her the speed of skyfire,**~ he lock-sent to Silvereyes, about Eveninglight. ~**Let's distract the mad ones while she gets away.**~ "Blood isn't all an elf is," Branchwalker said out loud, turning to face Wasp on shaking legs; though this time it was more adrenaline than fear that set them shaking. "How can you value blood more than the life of a child? How can you deny that is madness? Look at the one that's on your side!" He gestured at Claw, who still sat staring off into nothingness, a drunken smile on her lips.

OOC: Holy moly, guys. I'm gone 12 hours.
IC: Cloudbird shuddered, a curious calm flooding her mind as she heard him speak her soulname. For a moment, instinct almost took over but she stood her ground, her rage seeping away as Claw giggled and smiled at her - a friendly smile, no longer holding a modicum of threat. She went to one knee in front of the elfess, taking her by the hand as if they had not thrown angry words a moment ago. Her other hand she placed on Claw's cheek, suddenly concerned that the she-elf might be sick. Almost as if to keep Claw talking, she said, "Thank...thank you for your concern? I do not feel cursed, though."

Silvereyes did much the same, keeping alert and aware of their surroundings. She nodded with eyes met to Morning-glow like giving him a nod of thanks. Then she nodded in reply to Branchwalker, but not letting her eyes leave the sight of the mad one or the drunken one holding a dagger.
~**You and I may need to climb, you up for testing these two to see if they are at nimbleness in the trees as we beast bloods? We are at the least, faster, right?**~ Her lock-send to Branchwalker was one shared with caution and not being overly cocky about who is better.
She was not looking to fight. "Yeah, come on, Wasp and show me how great your awesome sting will be, if you can even you get close enough to catch me!" Silvereyes taunted while making a taunting face at Wasp. Her gaze would shift to Claw not and again, as well as on Morning-glow too.

Morning-Glow had hoped that the youths would have just got the stone and gone where most of their tribemates were but instead the elfess decided to pick a fight with Wasp. He could've then grabbed Wasp and stopped her by force from retaliating but he knew that wouldn't in the end be of any help. He didn't agree with Wasp's words, but neither did he now approve Silvereye's choice. He doubted there were any words that he could have said to stop what was evidently to take place. ~**I did my part.**~ He reached out to Cloudbird. There was a tone of apology but also plain factual. He had stopped Wasp from making things worse. But if the two elves asked for trouble, he wouldn't stop Wasp again. Wasp had the right to defend her honor.

Silvereyes, with brow morphing into a furrow with narrowed eyes and slightly silted head, she looked oddly at Cloudbird, and Morning-glow. Suddenly she felt their eyes on her more than Branchwalker and wondered if she had done something off or odd to them. She looked around herself then to Branchwalker with a shrug and a look of confusion before looking back to the other three with more worry on her face this time.

Branchwalker frowned in confusion at Silvereyes' sending. He looked at the spares, distant tree (hardly worth the name compared to those of hte Tall Tree Holt) that dotted the plains here and there, but mostly he looked at the see of crushed grass before them. ~**Where would we climb? I doubt that stunted tree would keep Wasp from us for long. But I think we can outrun her, if only because there's two of us and one of her.**~ He took off running, both to lure Wasp to follow and to follow Eveninglight to the others.
"Of course you don't!" Claw said to Cloudbird, chuckling to herself. "None of us could really tell the difference until you told us, so how could you know? It's not like any of us live as long as we should in this cursed world. But the High One..." She trailed off and there seemed to be a conflict going on inside her. For a moment there was clarity in her eyes and her smile vanished, only to reappear in the next moment, along with her gaze dimming. "The High One will take us to the stars, where we will live forever. It will not be an easy task, but one day we will all be as High Ones again. As we were meant to be." A look of pity found its way into her eyes and she seemed to focus directly on Cloudbird if only for a moment. "Except you of course. Dying of age can't be cured, the High One said, and with you around all our children might have that affliction soon. So you have to go." Despite the threat, she kept smiling, relaxed where she sat, as if sharing stories by a warming fire.
OOC: Branchwaker has left this thread and didn't hear what Claw now said.
